Alice has a vibrant colour palette of contrasting hues of cream, greens, reds, pinks, and blues. The stylised botanical pattern is a new take on traditional folk art and painting style called Khokhloma. We painted the intricate floral design by hand, using brush and inks, before transferring it into a digital form ready for print. This vibrant green floral wallpaper was lovingly created to bring a sense of happiness and positive energy to any space.

HELLO!
I'm Olga, designer and founder of a British homeware brand Olenka Design. Celebrating diversity and my cultural heritage, I love to explore connections between past and present times to create truly unique designs. My bold floral patterns embody traditional folk art with a modern colour palette. My design story takes me back to my childhood. Growing up in Russia I spent most of my spare time drawing. So, naturally, my parents thought it was a good idea for me to attend an Art School. My mum convinced me to give it a go as “that could lead me to an interesting career in the future”. I was eleven at the time and the only possible job I could think of was drawing pretty dolls’ faces in a toy factory! And with that motivation in mind, I enrolled in the course.
My bold floral patterns are inspired by traditional folk art and painting style called Khokhloma, which has a fascinating story and roots going back to the 17th century. Traditionally, the striking Khokhloma patterns were hans-painted by highly skilled craftsmen with piece being a unique artistic improvisation.
High quality design is one of my key values. Therefore, each of my intricate designs is painted by hand with great attention to detail. Because I work with a pattern repeat in mind, essential for wallpaper and fabric, I sketch my designs initially.
