Inspired by the stylish sophistication and allure of a speakeasy, it’s a fragrance of contradiction, capturing different moods.

WHY BONE CHINA?
Sourcing and using the right crafts and materials was an essential part of the Melissa Wilkes story. There is such a wealth of talent and skilled craftsmanship in Britain and we wanted to include as much of it as we could. We hope that by showcasing some of the world class talent in our country it helps to keep these heritage skills alive.
Our fine bone china vessels are handmade in the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, the home of exquisite fine bone china manufacture since the mid-1700s. The potters of Stoke-on-Trent are true artisan craftspeople so when we say handmade we truly mean it. It takes 36 pairs of hands to make a Melissa Wilkes candle from the handmade moulds into which the porcelain for the vessels is poured to the final decoration. By combining traditional skills with a contemporary product design we hope to keep our world class heritage craft thriving.

FRAGRANCE AND SCENT ARE WOVEN THROUGHOUT MY LIFE.
Some people relate colour to their life experiences, others associate music. For me, it has always been scent. Different perfumes evoke different emotions and particular scents can take me back to specific moments in time.
My love for scent started when I worked for Estée Lauder. I took delight and pride being surrounded by fragrances that I knew had been carefully sourced and created. Estée’s integrity, drive and determination has never left me.
My own career path took a turn from the world of scent into the world of law, business and entrepreneurship. After spending some years as a criminal lawyer in London, I became a specialist in business development. Combining this with my entrepreneurial ambitions led me to be the founder of two thriving businesses.
However, throughout my career, my love for scent never went away. I own many perfumes, all for different occasions and times of the day. When my daughter Matilda was very young, I took the opportunity to step away from the corporate world. It was time to write my next chapter, one I wanted to be creative with scent.
And so Melissa Wilkes England luxury scented candles was established. England is rich with heritage master crafts and after much research and sourcing, I’ve created beautiful scents for your home. My candles made from soy-based wax and hand poured into bespoke fine bone china vessels made in Stoke-on-Trent.
